The list of Major League Soccer's unprotected - Expansion Draft 2010

OK, lets get the mock drafts going with the list of the un-protected, remember no team can lose more than 2 players and when one is selected you can add one to your protected list (those decisions will be made live on draft day):

Star-divide

There have been a number of trades today including both expansion teams and others looking to clear cap room, get international spots or allocation money.  Here are the ones I know about:

Jeremy Hall from New York to Portland for a 3rd round draft pick (and some speculate no other picks by Portland)

Brian Carrol from Columbus to Philly for a 2nd round draft pick and allocation money.

LA has traded an international slot to Portland for allocation money

and this one just breaking on twitter- Sounders FC trades Vagenas to Colorado for defenders Baudet and Earls.

What is Warzycha thinking when he decides not to protect Guillermo Barros S. or F. Hedjuk? Do you see either of those guys getting picked from colombus? Also who do you think that we will lose? Also since we protected Sabo does that mean he is staying?

by James Christopher Weeks on Nov 22, 2010 8:52 PM MST reply actions

He is thinking

they are old, losing effectiveness and expensive. The Crew have to change, that is clear they can play but not excel with their current lineup.

I don’t see GBS getting picked up, Frankie is a maybe at best. Who will RSL lose, now that is the magic question, and tomorrow you will have my answer.

Protecting Sabo’s rights means we are working hard to get a deal done and I expect that we will see him back on the RSL roster in 2011

by denz on Nov 22, 2010 9:17 PM MST up reply actions

Cross your fingers...

RSL will be extremely – EXTREMELY – lucky if they don’t lose a really good player in the draft. Grabavoy, Williams, Russell and surely others (Gonzalez and Findley spring to mind) are at risk. Portland taking Nimo and then both leaving us alone would surely be a best-case scenario.

Findley

word on the street now is he wants to go to Europe.

Win or lose, we will always be here for you.

by johnjahafanclub on Nov 23, 2010 2:07 PM MST up reply actions

No way anybody touches Andy or Robbie because Andy is a little to long in the tooth. He would just retire im sure. Also Findley is off to europe! Im gonna have to say that Warner is gone which is super sad he is gonna be a solid player wherever he ends up going.
