More MLS Awards, less controversy as Jamison Olave wins defender of the year
This morning MLS announced a few more end of season awards:
Real Salt Lake's Jamison Olave wins 2010 Visa Defender of the Year
Kevin Stott named adidas Referee of the Year
Craig Lowry honored as adidas Assistant Referee of the Year
NEW YORK (Friday, Nov. 5, 2010) - Major League Soccer announced today that Real Salt Lake defender Jamison Olave was voted the 2010 Visa Defender of the Year. Olave appeared in 27 games this season for Salt Lake, anchoring a defense that allowed just 20 goals in 2010, the fewest allowed by an MLS club in a single season all-time.
This award was voted on by players, coaches and general managers, and media.
MLS also announced that Kevin Stott was voted the adidas Referee of the Year and Craig Lowry was voted the adidas Assistant Referee of the Year.
These two awards were voted on by players, coaches and general managers, media, and referees.

There are worse choices
I guess I look back at MLS Cup last year, when I had some real fears about Kevin being the head official but I thought he called a good match and if I had to pick the official in charge of a match from the current pool of MLS officials, I would probably pick Stott.
