Real Salt Lake 4 - Cruz Azul 5 Post match comments from RSL head coach Jason Kreis

OK thanks to the RSL media department I can provide you with the audio of the post match press conference from Mexico City.  Since the only media there was from Mexico, it is being translated back and forth but you can still get some good insight from Jason, who much to his credit is looking for the positives after the match.

Jason Kreis - Post match audio Cruz Azul (7:16)

I have to say that once again you can hear the growth in Jason, as a coach this year his post match comments are much more about how the team moves on from either a win or a loss.  It really is a good sign of his learning his craft as a coach.  There are some really good questions being asked, and I think Jason deals with them in a very professional matter.

Jason is indeed learning, I hope RSL does well enough for him to get a couple more shots at winning games in Mexico. If he keeps growing at this rate, he could be an awesome choice for the USMNT in the 2015-2018 cycle.

Some of the RSL players looked like they lost the script at various times (especially in the last 15-20 minutes). Hopefully, this is a good learning experience for all of them and they come out of it stronger, smarter, and more motivated to put a beating on everyone they face in the CCL and domestically!

I don’t know when I’ve been that emotionally invested in a game (split between watching a stream and listening to KALL). I think that this last week is going to lead to stronger support for the team from a lot of people.

Poor Substitutions

Why did Kreis sub out the possession players – Morales and Espindola – at minutes 63 and 73. Clearly terrible decisions.

That being said, RSL was victimized by some terrible referring. MLS teams keep getting shafted by these craptastic concacaf refs.

On the other hand, it was one of the most entertaining, craziest soccer matches I have ever seen. Definitely an instant-classic that FSC should play on replays in their midnight time slot in the future.

Re: Azul's bs goal off the free kick

From FIFA’s laws of the game

“For both direct and indirect free kicks, the ball must be stationary when the
kick is taken..”
