Update for Phily vs New England
Well the Rev’s will be without their keeper as Matt Reis is out for the match, as is All Star defender Kevin Alston. Going to change my prediction for this match to a win for the Union.
Rough start
Well both teams are playing hard, but for RSL the possession hasn’t been as great as I would like as it looks like the midfield is struggling to find their rhythm. I was hoping for an early goal but nothing in the 1st 15 minutes
crap card
Not sure how Olave gets a card for Frei running into him, Jamison was running on a straight line while Frei was stumbling to find his footing. Oh Toledo.
0-0 at the half
well I would give the first 15 minutes to TFC, the middle 15 minutes were fairly even, and RSL was the better side in the last 15 minutes of the half. So what adjustments can be made to get some better chances? Shots from Wingert, Grabavoy, and some great work by Espindola have been the highlights of the first half.
Time for fresh legs
Well as soon as I got ready to post this a change is made and Findley is in for Saborio who never got going tonight. Have to believe that Williams may be next, even Javi is looking a bit tired and who could blame him.
0-0 final score
Well another match at BMO field and still no goals for RSL. So I listened to the prematch show and I have to laugh a bit as they were all over Findley for “not performing” but I find it funny that in the last two matches it has been Espindola alone one on one with the keeper only to fire shots not even close to the goal.
Considering the war in Mexico City on Wednesday and the long travel, I thought RSL played a solid match but they clearly played a more defensive style than they did midweek. Andy failed to create many chances, Saborio was the invisible man, Kyle played tough but sloppy, Javi was solid but set pieces have to improve. The defense got lucky with their issues clearing the ball out of their area showing up for a second straight match.
I thought the most impressive player of the night was Wingert, who got forward a number of time and fired the most dangerous shot of the night. Johnson did well coming off the bench, Findley barely got a touch as it was clear that by the time he got in that Jason was looking for a draw more than a win.
A point on the road is good, but the harsh reality is that we are 3 points behind LA and they have a fairly easy match with KC at home later tonight. RSL has to find a way to get a couple more road wins, but a solid effort after the heartbreak of Cruz Azul.
