Complete CONCACAF Champions League Group Stage Schedule for Real Salt Lake

Well as soon as the matches ended on Tuesday night we knew what the first set of group stage matches would be for Real Salt Lake:

Wednesday, August 18th
Arabe Unido at Real Salt Lake- 8pm

Wednesday, August 25th
Real Salt Lake at Cruz Azul

Well now we know the rest of the match dates for RSL:

Wednesday, September 15
Toronto FC at Real Salt Lake - 8pm

Wednesday, September 22
Real Salt Lake at Arabe Unido (PAN)

Tuesday, September 28
Real Salt Lake at Toronto

Tuesday, October 19
Cruz Azul at Real Salt Lake - 8pm

I know that some of you out there are not real excited for these matches, but for me they are some of the biggest matches RSL will play before the playoffs.  Getting out of the group stage would be a huge accomplishment for Real Salt Lake in their first CCL, but I think RSL has what it takes to make a real run at winning this thing.  The reason is the huge advantage that we the fans give them when they are playing at Rio Tinto Stadium, so if you have season tickets show up, if you don't have tickets get some cause these should be fun matches.

Really looking forward to this.

I don’t know much about the leagues involved outside of the MLS, but a lot of people are really excited about that Cruz Azul match.

Is it reasonable to assume Real could get 5 points at home, 3 on the road, and advance?

More than reasonable

I expect that RSL will get at least 7 points at home, there is no reason any team in our group should be able to beat us at home. I do think we can get 2-4 points on the road and I fully expect us to get past the group stage. The only thing that might hold us back is those ugly Victory Gold kits, which is marketing speak for ULGY Yellow.

No kidding.

It’s way too bright.

I am too.

I don’t know why so many fans are ambivalent towards this tournament. It’s a chance to play against the top clubs in North America and the Caribbean. What’s not to like?

Bright Yellow

It’s a way to distract the other team. Looking forward to going to the matches though!

Perhaps the best making lemonade out of lemons comment of the year so far.

CCL included with season tickets?
…so if you have season tickets show up

This is interesting. So were CCL matches included in the seascn ticket package this year for RSL? If so, good on the RSL owners. Hopefully they’ll get equivalent attendance to their MLS matches (~16,700). Was the face value of the tickets the same as MLS matches and/or friendlies?

As a Sounders FC supporter, I’m both happy and sad that we have to buy CCL tickets separately. Sad because they weren’t included in the season ticket package. Happy for two reasons… First, they’re offered at a discount (mine were $18 per seat where for MLS games I pay $29), and second because it provides a clearer picture of just how much interest there is in Seattle for the CCL (it still drew 17,000+). Now that we know there’s significant interest, I hope they’re included in the season ticket package in the future (assuming we qualify again soon).

The CCL matches were included with season tickets

and yes, they are the same price as a regular match.

I have a ton of respect for Sounders supporters. I thought you guys were fantastic for the home opener this season. And I talk with a kid I went to HS with that went to UW and lives in Seattle now once or twice a month. He’s a huge Sounders fan, and it’s fun talking with him.
