Yura Movsisyan gets his first cap for Armenia

Just a quick update on another former RSL player and one of my favorite guys to have worn the cobalt and claret.  He is in the starting lineup for Armenia today as they face the Republic of Ireland in Euro 2012 qualifying action, if you want to check it out the match is live on ESPN3.com.

Go ahead and watch it, your boss is probably out of the office already for Labor Day.

So...

This means he won’t play for the U.S.? Or how does it work?

Correct unless he changes his citizenship

I don’t know all the rules of how FIFA deals with stuff, but I believe unless he changes his citizenship to be a US citizen he would be unable to play for the US.

Thanks!

And I’ve also been wondering how teams get into CCL and the SuperLiga thing. What are the requirements? Or does the team pay to get in? Or something like that…

CCL and SuperLiga

CCL takes the MLS Cup Winner and the Supporter Shield winner directly into the group stages, the US Open Cup winner and the loser in the MLS Cup go into qualifying for the group stage. For the Canadian teams they have their own little mini tournament to chose which team makes it in.

Super Liga takes the the next best 4 teams that don’t make it into the CCL.
