Warning angry rant to follow
That was pathetic!
I don't know that I've ever been more disappointed. I would have preferred seeing our last guys on our bench get completely outclassed than what we just saw. I pray that Kreis will finally get his blackmail out of Andy Williams' hands so he no longer has to start him every minute of every game.
What will it take for Nelson Gonzalez to get into a game?
What will it take for Nelson Gonzalez to get into a game?
What will it take for Nelson Gonzalez to get into a game?
I mean down 2 goals 30ish minutes left and a 33rd year old in the game that looked gassed the second the second half started that has played 180 minutes the last week but keeping him in was the right choice right? Surely Nelson could not have I don't know created some offense like he does every single time he has gotten into a game this year.
Sabo thanks for screwing everyone because you wanted to play for 5 more minutes. I hope it was worth it.
I wish the ref could call the game the same both ways. I mean surely every time Dallas goes down we must have been mauling them down right? But when we go down whether from Dallas punching us down or not we clearly were diving, right? Thanks a lot US Open Cup

You can rant, but
Get the facts straight, RSL has played 17 MLS matches and Andy has started 8 of them, of the possible 1530 minutes he has played 890 of them, not even 60% of the possible minutes.
As much as I like the options that Nelson can bring to the match, the reality is that clearly he hasn’t shown Jason what he needs to in practice. Jason has shown he will reward anyone who works hard with minutes, it is why their is no rotation for Tony Beltran anymore, it is why Luis Gil has been getting minutes in bulk lately, so without knowing all the issues involved I think just saying “start Nelson Gonzalez” is rather pointless. I do know that one issue that continues to hurt him is the lack of commitment to play on both sides of the ball, something that the RSL style of play demands.
While I think all of us would have loved to see a win in Dallas, it didn’t happen and now to qualify for Champions League we will need to secure one of the 3 remaining slots. So the Supporters’ Shield or playing in MLS Cup.
True
I didn’t look up all the facts like I said angry rant. I’m about 75% sure no one has played more than Andy in the last 3 games and that is mostly what my anger comes from. It makes no sense when you look at things without the “original player” bias. I get that Andy is beloved and he has meant a lot for this club and done a lotfor us as well. That does not earn a free pass I wouldn’t think. Nelson has produced everytime he has stepped on the pitch. He almost by himself kept our undeafeated at home streak alive. Andy 15 games (8 starts, 4 full 90 min) 2 goals 0 assists, Nelson 6 games (only 2 starts) 1 goal 1 assist hasn’t been given a chance at full 90 minutes yet. It is pretty easy to say that Nelson doesn’t defend but then ignore the lack of defending by Andy.
I just think it is time that everyone takes an objective look and realizes Andy is being on the pitch way too much if we expect to win things. It’ s nothing personal, I follow him on FB and have been a fan of his since the beginning but it is time for him to be phased out. If not we will see more of what we have so far this year fall short in Champion’s League, fall short in US Open cup, etc.
Agree in part and Disagree in part
The heat and humidity take their toll. That was expected. But FCD’s gamble of playing more fresh legs paid off and RSL’s gamble of playing the same players didn’t. I agree that Andy should’ve sat for this one. I like him in almost any other game, but this was too quick of a turnaround. The first thing to go with age is recovery speed. It just takes longer.
This was a game that was going to be taxing on both sides and in the end, we looked tired from the start. I think a few fresher players would have helped. Nelson in there for Ned and Warner for Andy. Schuler or McKenzie for Olave. At back it’s more difficult with Russell nursing his hamstring. The subs could then be Alexandre, Agashyan, and then maybe Andy or Ned would be available for the final 20 minutes.
While normally if Nelson is not showing exactly what Kreis wants in practice, then he shouldn’t start, but this game could be an exception. Fresh legs were needed. RSL was stuck in the midfield and didn’t have the sharpness to find the angles.
The game was so difficult to watch, but that was not for lack of effort. The mental mistakes and sloppiness seemed to come from fatigue.
I did want to note that I agree with you about the foul disparity. From the beginning we were getting called for very light fouls and couldn’t get a call on the other end. While it wasn’t as dramatic as other games this year, it was frustrating to watch.

blame me
I am sure that Michael Kennedy was simply trying to extract some revenge against RSL for my tweets about him being a “talking donkey” doing the Ref Review thing on US Soccer.
I can’t pin this on you. You never said he was a “reading” donkey.

I actually thought
Warner would get the start but I get that for the most part Andy is a bit more creative. Not sure I think I would blame a lot more of it on FC Dallas changing tactics from what they did on Saturday. They attacked more directly than they did on Saturday, which I think caused us some issues and by the time we adjusted our guys were gassed.
Easy to play what if, the reality is we went with the guys who 72 hour earlier got a 2-0 win over the same team.
