Saborio Suspension

Kall 700 just reported that Sabo has been suspended by the league. I don't know where to find this anywhere else, so I will have to go on the report. Does anyone have a link or more information? Any word on what the fine was?

The suspension makes sense considering the outcry after Davies' dive against RSL.

Also it's been difficult to get information on the injury front. Lagerway said Gonzalez was out for the year with his foot problem, but the media guide says he is "questionable." Any places to get updates on this?

Oh noes

Hadn’t heard about Gonzalez. That really, really sucks.

I went back and listened to Garth Lagerway’s interview on Kall700 this last Wednesday and about 5 minutes in he says: as you guys know Nelson broke his foot over the weekend and is out for the year. I can’t find anything else to support this. To be honest I’m disappointed in the two newspapers for never updating on injuries, ever. Anyway, you can check it out here:

To be honest

RSL didn’t publish anything to their media about the scrimmage with Ogden, so there wasn’t anyone there. I had heard about the match and went down, but to be honest I saw the play that Nelson got stepped on, but he continued playing so nobody would have noticed it until it was first reported on Wednesday.

I am confused why you would think you need more than the word of the GM to “support” what he says.

It’s less to support him and more about why there is no outlet to find updates on injuries. Although it would make sense that the GM would know the status, apparently he is wrong about the break. After speaking with a trainer, Nelson does only have a contusion and not a brake.

Also

If you read the original post, the reason I wanted to find something to support what Lagerway said was because the media guide listed Gonzalez as Questionable with a foot contusion and not out for the season. I think when there are conflicting items of information it’s helpful to find support for one or the other.

They sent him to the doctor

Who told the team there was a break, now is it a break that required surgery or a minor break that will heal on it’s own? I don’t know. It is my understanding the team was at first that surgery would be needed, and if that is the case it will likely end his season (just like Schuler’s season was ended last year). If they had someone take a second look and they got a different diagnosis, I don’t know but I expect we would get an injury update this week from the team.

With all that was going on over the last 7 days with the team, I am not surprised if there are some communications issues and as often things are fluid it would be easy to not have the latest info at any point.

Not sure what report you are looking at

When I go to the league’s injury report I see Nelson listed as Out, not as Questionable. I have a feeling you are looking at the Tuesday update, which would have been before the visit and report from the doctor that Garth commented on during his Wednesday radio interview.

Yes the game guide very likely was done using the Tuesday injury list since most teams have them done before the Friday list is published.

Ah

Your refence to the injury report on mlssoccer.com is what I was looking for in my complaint. I didn’t know the site had a report, thank you for that.

Is there another outlet that gives more information on RSL injuries, i.e. the cause of the injury or an update on the progress? For example how and when did Reynish get his concussion.

no

teams are required to submit an injury report to the league twice a week, these are published on Tuesdays and Fridays. Other than that there is little information out there unless it is a response to a specific question, things like the radio interviews with Jason and Garth are actually probably the best venue to get updates.
