To quote one of the greatest characters in one of the greatest movies of all time, "are you not entertained"? Toronto is in a bad place my friends. I'm not sure how many of you that read this blog regularly can recall where we were before our championship? I'm going to draw some parallels for you and explain why every RSL fan should root for Toronto to finally become a player in MLS

It's true RSL never started a year 0-7-0 but we did set some futility records. To my knowledge our expansion year is still the worst any team has ever done. I don't want to focus on our death valley point I want to focus on our climb. The year was 2008, RSL was barely able to sneak into the playoffs. We had a lot of the same players who would later win the Championship (and play in the CONCACAF Finals) but we looked pretty meek going down at home to a pretty crappy NYRB team that won by a cheap goal and then played anti-football. RSL probably could have won more games and probably that playoff game if they would have succumbed to the cheating diving football that is so common in MLS, but the fans here would have never supported it. We're not Chivas USA or SJ fans. We are RSLers. Keep in mind the first year that Kreis was coach was pretty bad, we looked terrible a lot and got embarrassed on several occasions. So making the WCF was definitely seen as lucky. We were lucky to draw Chivas that playoffs.

The next year we were the very last team to make the playoffs and we squeaked in at the last possible minute. Toronto just happened to be one of the teams that we squeaked by. In the weeks leading up to that most fans were mad about how everything was going. There was constant talk about if Kreis should be fired, most of the comments on the new articles were about fire Kreis. We all can see why that was wrong and why giving Kreis 2 year and now almost 5 years has paid dividends. The best part is we play soccer the right way.

That leads me to my point as TFC seems to be one of the only teams that never succumbs to playing anti-football all RSL fans should root for Winters to be given 2 years to develop his system and we should all hope that in 2 years if RSL isn't the team lifting the trophy that TFC is. Saturday's game took me back to 2007 when I would go to Rice Eccles and just pray that RSL could be up 2 goals going into the last 10 minutes so I would know that at least we will get a draw tonight. We were just as bad at holding a lead or hanging on to even just a draw as TFC is right now. Watching those players collapse and some of them cry their eyes out, it was a real time warp for me. And for that I say whenever they don't play us GO REDS!!
