Findley, who scored 29 regular season goals for the club, moved to Nottingham Forest following the expiration of his contract in 2010; Portland Timbers selected him in the 2010 Expansion Draft, thus retaining his rights apparently in perpetuity.
Findley's time at Nottingham Forest has not been as successful as he might have hoped when moving there to start 2011. He was later sent to English League Two club Gillingham FC. His development was certainly interrupted by a procession of managers moving through the ranks of Nottingham Forest, including former England manager Steve McClaren and former Scotland manager Alex McLeish.
The exchange for his rights has not yet been confirmed by the club, nor are any details about the move. Further, it remains to be seen if a deal can be made with Nottingham Forest for the player.
If he does return, Findley will have a chance to find his way into the ranks of RSL players who have made at least 100 regular season appearances for the club: He's sitting at 96 right now.
