When Last They Met: RSL v. New England Revolution, May 5, 2012

Starting against New England in May 2012 was our ostensible first-choice lineup - the one that we'd seen so little of at that point, and the one we'd so so little of moving forward. While injuries had been a sticking point before, this time, it was a red card to Will Johnson that rendered us unable to finish with that first-choice setup. It was one of the final times we really saw this group together.

Notable moments include:

- Fabian Espindola receiving a fantastic through ball and putting his shot right at goalkeeper Matt Reis, receiving the rebound, and having it poked away
- New England scoring after Tony Beltran was caught out of position and Jamison Olave, over to cover him, was beat with a little bit of movement
- Alvaro Saborio finishing at the top of the six-yard box after Javier Morales fought for a header in the box
- Alvaro Saborio finishing again after Javier Morales put in a perfectly weighted free kick
- Will Johnson getting sent off minutes later for an unnecessarily studs-up tackle
- Jamison Olave taking out (I believe) Kyle Beckerman near the edge of the box
- And, of course, no highlights package is complete without a fingertip save from Nick Rimando, so one of those is there, too
- Alvaro Saborio attempting to score his hat trick by chipping Matt Reis, who delays his fall just long enough to stop the ball with his face
- Fernando Cardenas getting sent off for a dangerous tackle late on
