Alvaro Saborio will miss the 2014 World Cup with a metatarsal fracture, according to reports out of Costa Rica and other Spanish-language media.
Early estimates from reports, such as the one above, indicate a three-month absence, which is about what one would expect for an injury of that nature.
It comes as a blow not only for Costa Rica, but for Real Salt Lake as well, who already were set to miss him during his international absence but will miss him further.
The injury was reportedly suffered this morning during a training session.
According to a report from Salt Lake Tribune reporter Chris Kamrani, Real Salt Lake have not set a timetable for recovery but are aware of the injury.
