Real Salt Lake vs. Kansas City Wizards - match thread

Well there should be a ton of action today as the KC Wizards come to Rio Tinto Stadium and look to repeat their win of 2009 here.  Real Salt Lake on the other hand has been playing very well and looking for the first ever 5 game winning streak in franchise history.

It is a perfect day for soccer as the tempature is 60 degrees it is partly cloudy and there is just a very slight chance of rain.  If you can't make it out to Rio Tinto, that match is on KUSG 2.2 (ch 111 on comcast) or Direct Kick.

I am expecting starting lineup in a couple minutes, but until then feel free to add your comments.

OK, the RSL starting 11 contains some changes and surprises for us:

Rimando,
Wingert, Borchers (C), Olave, Beltran
Williams, Alexandre, Morales, Johnson
Espindola, Saborio
Bench is Reynish, Warner, Campos, Russell, Grabavoy, McKenzie, and Schuler.

KC, also has a couple changes to their starting 11

Nielsen
Leathers, Conrad, Besler, Harrington
Jewsbury, Arnaud, Smith
Bunbury, Wolff, Kamara
Bench is Kronberg, Recastle, Myers, Diop, Zusi, Aiyghusi, Hehlbew

OK, a good first half as RSL for the first time this year at home started the half going towards the north goal, as KC tried to get in their heads.  RSL answers that mind trick by two goals, one from Espindola and one from Saborio both before the 35th minute.  KC did answer back with a goal by Josh Wolff, the only KC player on the roster to ever score against RSL.  The half ended 2-1.

Time for a final match update:
The second half saw RSL make two changes halftime changes for injuries (both hamstrings, of unknown severity) to both Chris Wingert, and to Andy Williams.  The two subs that come on would make a huge impact in the rest of the match, both Robbie Russell and Ned Grabavoy would find the back of the net as RSL extended their lead to 4-1, and their home undefeated streak to 15, and their current winning streak to 5 matches.

A perfect May for RSL and after 10 matches they are now 6-3-1 (with 5 home and 5 road matches.  Tomorrow I will be posting both a detailed match review as well as some pictures from the match.
