Yes there was a Generation Adidas player left at #14, and one who was ranked as one of the top 10 players by many (Soccer by Ives, ProPlayerPipeline.com, and WV Hooligan had him at #11). It is University of Maryland's Zac MacMath, he is a 6'2" 19 year old Junior who has been their keeper for 3 years and has a 51-10-3 record with a 0.65 GAA and 34 shutouts over his 3 years there.
He also has played 6 times for the US-U20 team and has an international record of 3-1-0 with a 0.25 GAA. I have to believe that he will likely be a guy who plays with the US U23 team as they try to qualify for the 2012 Olympics.
I know we have Kyle Reynish, who showed up big in 2010 when needed, Zac gives us a 3rd keeper who is young and has a ton of potential. Hey haven't we been here before? Yes this pick could be the next Chris Seitz, but Chris gave us options and I think you will see him continue to develop at Dallas this year.
There is also talk that Everton has some interest in MacMath, and RSL has a great relationship with them via two visits to Salt Lake in the last 5 years. I think this gives a keeper who many pick as the next big thing for the US in goal a chance to learn from Nick Rimando, the best keeper in MLS over the last 2-3 years.
Anyhow that was my only pick in the SB Nation MLS Mock draft, so what do you think?
