From the offices of the best team in Major League Soccer, Real Salt Lake:
Fans Can Assist RSL Midfielder Jean Alexandre in Preparing More than 1,000 Donated Shoes for Shipping from 6:00-8:00 p.m. MT
SANDY, Utah (Wednesday, February 2, 2011) - Real Salt Lake and KUTV2 are asking fans of the Claret-and-Cobalt to help close up shop on the successful "Shoes for Haiti" donation drive tomorrow, Thursday, February 3, when Utah's Major League Soccer club and its official broadcast partner will host an organizing event at Rio Tinto Stadium. Volunteers can report to the former Ardell Brown building located in the North Parking Lot of Rio Tinto Stadium from 6:00-8:00 p.m. MT to help prepare the more than 1,000 pairs of shoes that have been collected for shipping to the Jean Alexandre Football Academy in the RSL midfielder's birthplace of Verrettes, Haiti.
Alexandre will be on hand to assist volunteers in the organizing effort, which will also provide one final opportunity for supporters to donate new or gently-used shoes (preferably sneakers or soccer boots) to this worthwhile cause. Members of the media are invited to the event for interview and photo opportunities with Alexandre, while fans will also be able to take photographs and obtain autographs from the popular third-year midfielder throughout the night. For more details on the event, please contact John Koluder in the RSL Communications Department at jkoluder@RealSaltLake.com or 801-918-5050 (mobile).
I know there are no more giving and caring fans in MLS than those of RSL, so if you can make it out to help out a great cause please do so.
