RSL fans, don’t put the cart before the Rapids

OK, I am like most of you out there.

Thrilled that our Real Salt Lake will be competing in the CONCACAF Champions League Final, focused on getting your tickets for the match and extras for all your friends without season tickets, but let's not forget that this season is about more than just one goal, this season is about domination at every level.  So as easy as it might be to live off that Tuesday night result and the knowledge of the CCL finals, we just like the players and coaches need to focus.

Saturday night the boys are at "the Razor" to face the New England Revolution, yeah the last couple years we have "owned" the Rev's but they are one of just 5 teams (including RSL) that haven't lost yet this year.  They have a number of new players, but Steve Nicol is a master at finding a way to integrate new players into his lineup.  Add in the fact that they still have one of the top players in MLS in Shalrie Joseph on their roster, and he is a dangerous player on both sides of the ball.  I will go over more in my match preview coming up later tonight.

after the jump, find out why the April 13th match will be huge for RSL:

Then there is "the match", you know the one I am talking about don't you?

The match that mattered more than ever when we sucked as a team, and may mean even more as it will pit the last two MLS Cup Champions.  The match that will feature two of the top teams in MLS, the two teams that most people have at the top of their power rankings, and two teams that just don't seem to like each other very much.  Oh I can hear your excuses, it is a Wednesday night match, but is that going to keep you from attending the CCL final?  But last year we only played our reserves, and they got a come from behind draw in an exciting match that introduced fans to some new faces on the team.  But I don't really care that much about the Rocky Mountain Cup, well I don't either but for me this is about position in the Western Conference, this is about bragging rights (you know they would have loved to beat us last year after we won the cup), this is about one of the trophies that we should desire most, this could be one of the deciding matches in the race for the Supporters' Shield.

So if you are a season ticket holder and you want to get your friends on the RSL bandwagon before the big final on April 27th, what better way to do so than to bring them out as we beat up on the Rapids on April 13th?  What better way for all RSL fans to prepare for the biggest matches in the club's history than to use the Rapids as a warmup, to get our chants down, to show our team that we are with them no matter who they are playing?  Oh yeah I will be there, will you?

If you aren't a season ticket holder, and haven't been able to get tickets to the Champions League final, I say get tickets to this match.  Come out and watch RSL face the defending MLS Cup Champions the Colorado Rapids (yes it pains me each time I say or type that).  Get on the bandwagon before we become the Champions of CONCACAF.  Come out and experience what every match is like at Rio Tinto, come out and get your RSL on.  You can get tickets at http://www.realsaltlake.com/tickets
