Real Salt Lake to host a post match concert by OneRepublic after DC United Match

The last couple years RSL has offered fans a bonus after a home match in the form of a post match mini-concert. First it was David Archuleta, then last year it was David Cook, and in 2011 they will bring us OneRepublic. The concert will take play on June 18th after the DC United match at Rio Tinto and is noted on the groups website. I have to admit that I have no real idea who OneRepublic is but I do see they have won a Teen Choice Award and have been nominated for a Grammy, so they must have some talent.

Anyhow here is the official information from the Real Salt Lake Communications department:

Once again, the Zions Bank Summer Kickoff event will feature several elements geared towards celebrating area high school graduations and the beginning of the summer season, starting with the "Carnival Real" pre-game festival on the Stadium's East Lawn at 5:00 p.m. As part of the pre-game festivities, executives from Zions Bank and captains from many of the 2010/11 UHSAA Boys and Girls championship soccer teams will participate in the game's ceremonial "First Kick," while at halftime select high school students from across the Beehive State will be recognized for their achievements in the classroom during an on-field ceremony.

After being compared to popular and powerful acts such as The Fray, Maroon 5 and Coldplay, it's no surprise that OneRepublic has achieved a fair amount of success of their own since forming nearly a decade ago. After Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins formed OneRepublic in Colorado Spings, Colorado, back in 2002, the band achieved massive success on MySpace, becoming the most prominent signed act on the then music-driven social networking site. After signing on to Mosley Music Group in 2006, the group released their debut album, Dreaming Out Loud in 2007.

Soon after, OneRepublic made radio history when their first single, "Apologize," received the largest amount of airplay in history with 10,331 plays in one week, the record only being broken again by "Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis, a song Tedder also co-wrote. The remix version of "Apologize," featured on Timbaland's album Shock Value, was a smash hit internationally, reaching number-one in sixteen countries and gaining 10 million downloads (the largest number of digital downloads for any song to date) while subsequently earning them a Grammy Award nomination in 2008.

The band also achieved national success with their second single, "Stop and Stare," and due to their fans' tremendous response, "Dreaming Out Loud" was certified GOLD in the United States, Austria, Australia and Canada. OneRepublic followed up the success of Dreaming Out Loud with their second album, Waking Up, in November of 2009, with the lead single "All the Right Moves" charting in the top 10 internationally and in the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S.
