Real Salt Lake adds two before the MLS Roster Freeze of 2011 - Updated

Well Real Salt Lake took a couple of steps to fill out their roster heading into the final push of the season and run to the playoffs.

They added USL PRO MVP Yordany Alvarez from Orlando City: (Update- Orlando City posted on facebook that Yordany is with RSL on a loan for the rest of the MLS season. Which means his status beyond that is not yet determined)

Yordany is one of a group of players who defected during the Olympic Qualifying tournament, he trialed with a number of MLS teams but played last year with Austin of the NASL/USL, which moved to Orlando for the 2011 season as part of USL Pro.

This year Orlando City was the top team both in the regular season and in the USL Pro Tournament, Yordany was voted by the USL coaches and managers as the league MVP this year:

Most Valuable Player - Yordany Alvarez, Orlando City
Not known for his scoring prowess and not a flashy player, Cuban-born Alvarez earned the respect of his peers and his opponents as Orlando City's leader in the central midfield. Opponents needed to get through Alvarez first if they wanted to break down Orlando City's defense, and it did not happen often as the Lions allowed the fewest goals against with only 16 in 24 games.

With some more USMNT matches coming up, could this be a move to find more depth at d-mid?

Real Salt Lake didn't stop there, they also added Home Grown MF Nico Muniz from the RSL Academy in Arizona. You have to think the recent success of Luis Gil may have motivated the team to bring in another offensive minded young midfielder. I have heard good reports about Nico Muniz and it will be interesting to see what role he will play with RSL in the future.

As more information about the two new players comes available I will provide some updates.
