RSL-Arizona academy graduate Nico Muñiz has been waived by Real Salt Lake after spending 2012 with the club and will enter the 2012 MLS Waiver draft.

Muñiz, who counted as a homegrown player after his academy time, is the second such to be released from the club, after forward (and sometimes left back) Donny Toia was released during 2012 preseason.

Lalo Fernandez remains at the club as the sole homegrown player, but defender Carlos Salcedo, a fellow academy graduate, is widely expected to sign in 2013.

Real Salt Lake picks 12th in the Waiver Draft today, but any selection will automatically trigger contract clauses and options. It remains to be seen if anyone will be selected, though some big names are involved.
