Major League Soccer - Week 10 midweek previews and picks

So Major League Soccer has 3 matches for you on Wednesday, and there are two additional matches for you up in Canada as the Canadian Championship enters leg two of the first round. The sad part is that none of these matches is on national TV tonight. Anyhow, here we go:

Houston Dynamo at New York Red Bulls - 5:00pm MT - Direct Kick & MLS Live

Well the Dynamo are playing their last of 7 road matches to start the MLS season, and with this weekends opening of BBVA Compass Stadium one has to wonder if they might be a bit distracted, but with just 8 points from 6 matches you have to believe that they understand that to keep pace with the other teams in the East they need every point they can get. For the Red Bulls, they are coming off a big 1-0 win over the Galaxy in LA but this is a team dealing with a number of injuries that have forced formation and lineup changes in bulk. It should be an interesting battle, we know that Houston looks to play defense first so can the Red Bulls find a way to score some goals on them, Kenny Cooper could be huge factor in this match. Biggest surprise factor, is going to be Sorin Stoica. Who is that you ask, that is the man in charge of the match, his first in MLS. Yup, could be fun. Oh 2-1 win for the Red Bulls as Houston is distracted by their own stadium looming large.

Montreal Impact at Toronto FC - 6:00pm MT - No TV, not sure about online feeds

These two teams battled to a 0-0 draw in the first leg so the winner of this one will advance. Montreal is coming off a big win over Sporting KC last weekend, while TFC is coming off another loss. I still think that this one will go the way of the Red's. Going to say 2-1 that TFC wins and advances.

more after the jump:

Real Salt Lake at Chicago Fire - 6:30pm MT - CW30(tape delay to 9pm), MLS Live & Direct Kick

You can check out my full match preview here, the short version is that I think this is an interesting match for both teams. I am going with a 2-1 RSL win.

Seattle Sounders at FC Dallas - 6:30pm MT - MLS Live & Direct Kick

Normally this would be a top level match up, but the list of who isn't playing for FC Dallas is more impressive that who is, between suspensions to Blas Perez and Daniel Hernandez and their many injuries. FC Dallas haven't gotten a win in their last 4 matches, while the Sounders have won each of their last 4. The Sounders are starting to click and I think that FC Dallas will be little more than speed bump for them with all the issues they are facing. One thing that could be a big factor, oh yeah just like New York and Houston, a brand new official to MLS will be in charge of this one, as Fotis Bazakos will be the man in charge. Oh my it could be another crazy one in Dallas. I am going for a 3-1 win by the Sounders.

FC Edmonton at Vancouver Whitecaps - 9:00pm MT - No TV

The Whitecaps cruised to a 2-0 win last week at Edmonton, and I expect they will finish off their series with a bang at home in front of their fans. I expect the Whitecaps to pull out at least a 2-1 win.

OK, now you are fully ready for all the fun of what tonight can offer up for soccer fun.
