Real Salt Lake sneaks a roster move in before Friday's deadline and sign David Viana

So while I am not sure what the impact will be Real Salt Lake did make a late move before the MLS roster deadline on Friday evening, as they added 20 yr old Portuguese player David Viana. Viana has played with the U17,18 and U19 national teams for Portugal. He moved to La Liga's Atletico Madrid reserve side last year, but has also spent time practicing with the first team during his stay there. On Friday he was quoted by a French site as saying

"I am very happy. This is a great opportunity for me. I am proud to represent Portugal here in MLS. " and "The atmosphere is good. I was very well received. Now I will give everything to help the club. "

He is listed as a midfielder/ forward but team sources describe him as a #10 who can also play on both sides of the midfield. The player was regularly scouted by French Ligue 1 side LOSC Lille as reported in this article.

Viana was listed as a guest player for RSL's midweek reserve match at Sporting KC last week and played the first 80 minutes of the match for RSL, which RSL won 1-0 on Tuesday.

I am sure we will learn more about this signing as the week progresses, but could this signing be a sign of things to come for RSL as they look to get younger and faster?
