MLSSoccer.com
Matt Doyle of mlssoccer.com has Real Salt Lake selecting Ryan Finley, Notre Dame forward and a Generation Adidas contract-signer, in what would be a cruel fate for commentators with the official arrival of Robbie Findley yesterday. Now, Finley may well be a good striker, and he's not exactly small, but Jason Kreis and Garth Lagerwey have never drafted a striker with a first-round pick. Unless, of course, you count Jean Alexandre, which might be a stretch.
Soccer by Ives
Ives Galarcep agrees with Doyle's Finley selection, calling him a "pure finisher." It's nice that everyone has us picking a forward, but if there's a better player available, we're likely to take him instead.
Top Drawer Soccer
The staff of excellent high school and college soccer prospects tracker Top Drawer Soccer has us picking Erik Hurtado, a midfielder apparently native to Oregon who attended Santa Clara University. They peg his best qualities as "a dynamic combination of speed and skill." Sounds good to me.
SoccerAmerica
Deshorn Brown, a forward out of the University of Central Florida, is Paul Kennedy's pick from SoccerAmerica. Apparently he would "be a good pick if still available." I'll take your word for it, Mr. Kennedy.
