Real Salt Lake will face LA Galaxy away next weekend to open their MLS Cup hunt after a controversy-ridden final match between LA and Seattle Sounders sealed RSL's opponent.
The return leg will take place either November 6 or 7 (details to be announced) at Rio Tinto Stadium. The away leg looks to be set to take place on Sunday at 6 p.m., with the match broadcast on ESPN.
RSL and LA first met this season in Salt Lake City in late April, with the visitors winning 2-0 from Mike and Charlie Rugg goals. The second meeting took place on June 8 at Rio Tinto Stadium, with RSL winning 3-1 through an Olmes Garcia brace and a Khari Stephenson goal, and Landon Donovan scoring the lone goal for the opposition. Robbie Keane scored a hat trick in the third meeting of the season in a 4-2 Galaxy win at StubHub Center.
The matchup will surely be a scintillating one, and the two sides have met in the playoffs in 2011 (LA won the series) and 2009 (RSL won the series and the Cup).
