US youth international and RSL-AZ academy graduate Jordan Allen has agreed to join Real Salt Lake, signing a contract with the club and henceforth leaving his University of Virginia playing career behind.
Allen joins the club as a versatile player whose focus is often as an attacking player, but has played with Real Salt Lake's reserves at full back.
He leaves University of Virginia after his standout freshman season helped boost the school to a semifinal in the NCAA College Cup.
He joins as a homegrown player with extensive youth international experience; he is currently involved with the US U-18s and has won plaudits. During his academy stay, he was consistently rated as one of the top talents in the nation.
This marks the first signing for Real Salt Lake for the 2014 season.
Allen is the sixth player to have signed from the academy, with Donny Toia, Nico Muniz, Carlos Salcedo, Lalo Fernandez, and Benji Lopez coming before him.
