Javier Morales out for 4-6 weeks after reparative surgery

Russ Isabella-US PRESSWIRE

Javier Morales joins the list of players set to miss the early stages of the season after undergoing a reparative surgery to his right meniscus, Real Salt Lake announced today.

Dr. Andrew Cooper, RSL team physician, said in a press release that the injury Morales suffered was similar to an injury the player suffered on his left knee.

"The surgery was uncomplicated and we can expect Javi back on the field doing soccer-specific stuff in about four to six weeks," Cooper said in a press release.

Morales suffered the injury during Real Salt Lake's preseason loss to a Denmark U-20s side; after intermittent pain, the player underwent an MRI, which revealed the damage. From there, Morales returned to Salt Lake City, where he underwent today's surgery.

Morales joins Chris Wingert and Nat Borchers on the injury list ahead of the season; all three are expected to miss at least the first matches of the season.
