US Open Cup quarterfinal draw: RSL could host Carolina or Chivas

Douglas C. Pizac-USA Today Sport

US Soccer announced the quarterfinal draw for the US Open Cup, and wouldn't you just know it — Real Salt Lake could host another round, and we didn't even have to pay for it. We'd host either Carolina Railhawks or Chivas USA on June 26.

Of course, that is assuming we make it through this round, which is undoubtedly a pressing matter. That match takes place in one week — June 12 — and will be against USL Pro side Charleston Battery. Should RSL make it through, it would be the first time we've made it that far.

It's a strange time that we might rather host an MLS side than one from NASL, but the dire performances of Chelisless Chivas USA are slightly — and only just — encouraging.

Enzo Martinez will again prove an excellent scout, having only recently been on loan with the Railhawks, although it would be surprising if he played.

And, hey, maybe it'll rain again. We'll see, right?
