Real Salt Lake striker Alvaro Saborio is listed in the most recent club-produced injury report as out for tomorrow's match against San Jose Earthquakes, having sustained the injury during the international break. It also kept him out of the 2-0 loss to Seattle Sounders last weekend.
Saborio had left for international duty suffering from a calf injury, but in the opposite calf. This newer injury was sustained during or around training, leaving RSL without their leading scorer on the season once again.
Injuries and international absences have more than peppered Saborio's playing time, and as a result, he's sitting on only 13 matches played, 12 of those started. During that time, he's scored 10 goals, a remarkable production rate.
Of the 30 matches that will have been played after this weekend, Saborio will have played in fewer than half. That's a discouraging ratio, despite the success RSL has seen to this point of the season.
