RSL trained today at Rio Tinto Stadium ahead of tomorrow nights US Open Cup Final vs DC United. RSL coming off an impressive win Saturday against the Vancouver Whitecaps starting what most would consider the RSL "B" team, the players seemed relaxed but very focused during today's session.
Working through some touch drills and then spending the majority of the session in 9 v 9 play, the pace was quick and the energy high. RSL come into the final tomorrow night looking to add a second piece of major silverware to the trophy room and to rebound from somewhat disappointing form leading up to Saturday's win.
Saturday night's win vs. the Whitecaps could put Coach Jason Kreis in an interesting position, as players in the 11 made a case that they should see time in future matches. Sebastian Velasquez, Devon Sandoval and Cole Grossman all left the impression that they deserve consideration. 9 v 9 play today at training also included Alvaro Saborio, who is recently returning from an injury.
