With the 15th pick in the third round of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft, Real Salt Lake selected Joey Dillon, a defender and midfielder from Georgetown University.

Dillon was one of several players pundits pointed to as an option for Real Salt Lake, calling him a "possession player" and a "positional player."

His time at Georgetown saw the school play finish second in the 2012 College Cup. In 2013, he was named Big East Midfielder of the Year -- it is worth noting that No. 4 pick Steve Neumann, drafted by New England Revolution, was Big East Offensive Player of the Year last year.

Dillon will now be faced with a difficult task: Making a now-packed squad at Real Salt Lake, where 28 roster spots appear to be taken at current. Additionally, central midfield positions seem to be well-stocked, with no fewer than nine players for the four positions on the roster.

Real Salt Lake received the 15th pick of the third round in exchange for first right of refusal to Jonny Steele, with New York Red Bulls signing the Irish midfielder and making him an important part of their 2013 campaign.
