Player ratings versus Chivas USA

In RSL's worst loss of the season, there was one player that had a positive performance.

Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimando - 8 Rimando was truly the only player for RSL that did not look sub-par. He came up with a PK save and a couple of other pretty amazing saves to keep RSL within a goal deficit, but unfortunately his teammates did not take advantage of his good performance.

Chris Wingert - 5.5 Wingert was not getting into the attack in the way that we are used to seeing. When he did get into the attack, it was not effective as Chivas was able to keep him contained.

Nat Borchers - 6 Borchers had a few good step-ins but also got beat quite a few times. It's fair to say that Chivas very well could have scored three goals and were probably unlucky not to score more.

Chris Schuler - 6.5 Schuler looked fine for the nearly thirty minutes that he was on the field.

Carlos Salcedo - 5.5 Salcedo came up with some decent clearances and did alright for playing a position that isn't truly his preferred spot.

Kyle Beckerman - 4.5 Kyle, as the leader of the team, has got to be better with his leadership on the field both in play and in attitude. His passes were not nearly as sharp as we know he is capable of. He is still my favorite RSL player though, the horrible performance aside.

Javier Morales - 4 Morales had the lone shot on goal for the night, but his connections in and around the area were off, both coming from him and going to him. The communication was off all night. Plus he got a yellow which means he is out for the next match. He has to be smarter.

Luke Mulholland - 4 Mulholland did not bring the spark that we desperately needed him to bring. He made some silly decisions with the ball and seemed shy on offense.

Ned Grabavoy - 4.5 Grabavoy took some shots from distance that went high every time. At least he was willing to pull the trigger.

Alvaro Saborio - 4 Saborio is rustier than I thought. He had a dream comeback, but has not looked anywhere near what he looked like before his injury.

Joao Plata - 3.5 Plata uncharacteristically was unwilling to shoot when he had a bit of space and even more uncharacteristically lost the ball multiple times.

Substitutes

Rich Balchan - 2 Balchan, without a doubt, had the worst night of his career. He made two amateur mistakes that gift-wrapped a goal for Chivas and then committed a penalty in the box that gave Torres a shot against Rimando. Luckily for Balchan, Rimando cleaned up the mess. I have never seen somebody subbed on and subbed off in the same game. It speaks to the night he was having.

Sebastian Jaime - 5 Jaime sought to create, but unfortunately his teammates looked like they were completely out of focus by the time he came on.

Robbie Findley - 5 Findley did not do well enough, plain and simple. He held up the ball but then lost it. He had a chance to split the defenders but turned around to pass it. He lacked the killer instinct in a game when it was badly needed.
