What to watch: Nick Rimando's undefeated history
Nick Rimando is one of the most successful goalkeepers in national team history. This is a somewhat surprising fact, because he's played only 11 matches, but of those 11, he has precisely zero losses. Ever.
A remarkable feat, without a doubt. I mean, who knows — part of it could be influenced by the opponents he's playing, and the fact that he's not playing in every international match. But it does place him as having the sixth-most wins among U.S. goalkeepers, and that's pretty cool.
What to watch: Does Kyle Beckerman feature?
We're probably not alone in wondering this, but after being one of the few competent midfielders last week in the loss to Colombia, will Beckerman feature again? Ireland is no Colombia (neither in location nor in quality), and Jurgen Klinsmann has shown a tendency to avoid playing a single holding midfielder when he deems the opposition doesn't necessitate it. Is he right? I don't know. We do alright in Salt Lake with a full-time defensive midfielder.
