RSL Soapbox reader expansion draft poll results: A solid eleven appears

RSL Soapbox readers sent in their protected lists, and we've distilled that down to a consensus XI to protect.

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

It's the moment we've all been waiting for: the reveal of the RSL Soapbox Expansion Draft Reader Poll Protected List-apalooza™.

The community protected list, in order of most-protected to least-protected is as follows:

Plata
Rimando
Beckerman
Schuler
Gil
Salcedo
Morales
Jaime
Mulholland
Saborio
Beltran

Now, if we look back at the contributor protected list, it's actually basically the same, although there was a further degree of unanimity to that poll. The decisions here were more split.

Player Percentage
Attinella 14.12%
Beckerman 98.82%
Beltran 70.59%
Borchers 45.88%
Findley 3.53%
Garcia 29.41%
Gil 90.59%
Grabavoy 30.59%
Jaime 72.94%
Mansally 5.88%
Maund 1.18%
Morales 74.12%
Mulholland 72.94%
Plata 100.00%
Rimando 100.00%
Saborio 71.76%
Salcedo 78.82%
Schuler 96.47%
Stertzer 1.18%
Velasquez 29.41%
Wingert 8.24%

No players were really on the edge of selection; Tony Beltran finished 11th here with 71 percent of the vote, and Nat Borchers finished 12th with 46 percent of the vote. That gulf in selection lends some certainty to our selections, but it makes a statement about the nature of depth at Real Salt Lake.

One final look at the data here: the percentage of lists that protected a given player.
