In a move that sounds more like an unconfirmed rumor spread more because it sounds likely enough than an actual occurrence, Maple Leaf Sports Entertainment is reported to be looking at Garth Lagerwey for Toronto FC president.
The report from Canadian outlet Sportsnet is light on details, but it says that a 'well-placed' source within Toronto FC has confirmed the talks. (The publication also, like so many other publications before it, spells Lagerwey's name incorrectly.)
It's unclear whether there's much to the report, and even if every detail it offers is true, it only speaks to the fact that there is interest from MLSE. It doesn't mean that Lagerwey is certainly on his way out of the club, and it doesn't mean that there haven't been positive discussions at Real Salt Lake.
We remain hopeful that a deal to keep Garth Lagerwey in Salt Lake City can be agreed in short order.
