Jamison Olave will return to Real Salt Lake, according to Real Salt Lake communications, who confirmed reports today.
Olave, who left Real Salt Lake in 2012, has played with New York Red Bulls with some success over the last two years. Olave, 33, played at the club for five years and formed a very successful partnership with Nat Borchers at the time.
The move comes as a true surprise. It's hard to say whether Olave will immediately take the starting role freed by Nat Borchers' departure, but a partnership with Chris Schuler makes a lot of sense.
Real Salt Lake may have lost several players in the last few days, but this Olave get is an interesting one.
Real Salt Lake will send allocation money to New York Red Bulls in exchange for Olave — allocation money almost certainly gained from the selection of Chris Wingert and Ned Grabavoy in today's expansion draft.
