Real Salt Lake defensive coach Craig Waibel will step into a technical director role, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. The move was first reported by Chris Kamrani at the Salt Lake Tribune.
Waibel will fulfill the duties performed by soon-to-be former RSL general manager Garth Lagerwey, and both he and Jeff Cassar will answer directly to club president Bill Manning.
Elliott Fall, who has been involved with the club for a number of years and was most recently Director of Soccer Operations, will serve as assistant general manager.
The move may more or less wrap up the Garth Lagerwey saga that has occupied the last year's attention from nearly all American soccer media.
