2014 RSL Soapbox Awards: Biggest Disappointment

Every year, RSL Soapbox hands out seven prestigious awards known as the "RSL Soapbox Awards." Here, we look at the biggest disappointment of the year.

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

Kreg Asay: Losing to Chivas twice!! The less said about this the better. Really? Two losses to Chivas?!?

Weston Jenson: The Salcedo fiasco. After becoming a league renowned young defender, Carlos Salcedo abruptly took to Twitter at the end of November asking RSL not to pick up his option for the 2015 season. RSL however has picked it up in what can only be referred to as a fiasco. What will happen to this promising Mexican youth international still haunts me and it might come back to haunt Real Salt Lake, too. I am still holding out hope that everything will get smoothed out and the two sides will continue to cooperate for years to come.

Matt Montgomery: Our strikers, less the big two, forgetting how to score. In key matches, we had one or two strikers we could count on in any way: Alvaro Saborio and Joao Plata. Saborio, for all his quality, spent much of the season injured, and Plata couldn't carry the weight alone. Robbie Findley, Olmes Garcia, and Devon Sandoval simply struggled, and it was more than a little disappointing. Sebastian Jaime came in and didn't have enough time to really mesh with the team, so he's left out of the disappointment here.

Randal Serr: The biggest disappointment of the year for me was Robbie Findley having a less than desirable season. This is not because he had the worst season of any RSL player by any means, rather, as a huge Findley fan I was left with my expectations shot. Clearly, one goal over the coarse of a season is not enough, especially considering his salary and what he has done in years past.
