2014 RSL Soapbox Awards: Forward

Every year, RSL Soapbox hands out seven prestigious awards called the "RSL Soapbox Awards." Today, Joao Plata is featured as Forward of the Year.

Kreg Asay: Can it be anyone other than Joao Plata?  The pint-sized power-plant took the biggest step-up in 2014 bettering his previous stats in all areas: 13 goals, 6 assists, more than half of his 56 shots taken were on goal; to top it off he made quite a few MLS defenders look like absolute fools with nutmegs, fakes and simply outracing them, not to mention the 2 header-goals from the shortest player in the league!

Weston Jenson: Do I really need to explain?  In short, a guy who has only a small impact on the salary cap comes into the Claret-and-Cobalt and and scores 13 goals and tallies six assists.  This guy can not only produce goal but can create chances.  This guy is definitely an attacking threat for RSL.  Oh, and he is young.  At 22 years old he has many years to refine his already amazing talent.

Matt Montgomery: Ahem. Plata. That's all.
