Fox Deportes: Salcedo agrees deal with Chivas

Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

The Carlos Salcedo saga could be nearing a close, with the Mexican center back conditionally agreeing a three to four year contract with Mexican side Chivas, according to a Fox Deportes report today.

The article reports that Salcedo's agent has said that the player will sign with Chivas after having been the subject of a bid by various other sides — including Cruz Azul in Mexico, FC Twente in the Netherlands, and FC Koln in Germany.

However, the article says it's not a done deal yet. An offer by a European team that goes above and beyond the offer from Chivas could trump the deal, although it's not specified whether that's down to Real Salt Lake, who hold the player's rights, or to the player's contract.

This could stand to be the biggest deal for a Real Salt Lake player, at least in recent memory. Salcedo, clearly a talented young player, does have plenty of drive and ambition to improve and earn minutes for any of the four sides in for him.
