Player Ratings: Plata strong before injury; Gil, Beckerman keep play moving

Nick Rimando - 7 Rimando had a couple of Galaxy chances come his way that he thwarted, but not too many more. A pretty quiet night from Rimando.

Chris Wingert - 5.5 Wingert gave the ball up on in a horrible spot on the play that led to the Galaxy goal. He defended pretty well beyond that glaring mistake, but that mistake cost RSL a couple of points unfortunately.

Nat Borchers - 6 Borchers led a well organized defense against LA even though things looked pretty chaotic overall. He was making sure assignments were filled and marks were made.

Chris Schuler - 7.5 Schuler won nearly all of the aerial battles that he was involved in and make plenty of timely step-ins with those long limbs of his. He looks like he is picking up right where he left off at the end of last season which is fantastic news if he can stay healthy. When he had Keane in that one-on-one situation, he probably could have defended him from a bit more of a goal-side position, but all in all he had a pretty good game.

Tony Beltran - 7 Beltran connected in all but maybe a couple of his passes and didn't let the Galaxy do too much from his side of the field. He kept the Galaxy attack pretty ineffective.

Kyle Beckerman - 8 Beckerman was one of only a few players that didn't seem like the chaotic game and reffing affected him. He looked as sharp as usual and was trying to keep his teammates grounded and focused on the task at hand.

Javier Morales - 6 Morales, much like the rest of the team, couldn't make that last pass quite the way he would have liked to and RSL didn't really threaten much in the second half. In fairness, Javier was fouled over and over and the Galaxy's tactics really muddied up his style of play.

Ned Grabavoy - 6 Grabavoy looked fairly dangerous a couple of times which is a good sign that he is on the prowl to score and get into the mix where good things happen. If he can keep that up, the goals will come. I didn't think he made a couple of runs that he should have in the second half though. He even admitted after the game that he and others kind of ran out of gas.

Luis Gil - 8 Gil looked really good in possession. Fantastic. He also did pretty well on defense winning balls. Now if we can get that sort of play on a regular basis, Gil is bound to have his best season.

Joao Plata - 8.5 Plata leaving the game was the turning point for the flow of the game. Plata looks to be playing with a lot of confidence this year and added to his stat sheet last night with a perfect pass to a wide open Saborio. Once again, he looked great on the ball and was able to run down balls in the corner and make something good happen just about every time he was involved.

Alvaro Saborio - 7.5 A nice rebound game for Saborio with a goal that was like putting a baby to bed. He did make a boneheaded tackle on De La Garza which could cost him some suspension time depending on how the MLS Disciplinary committee is feeling this week.

Luke Mulholland - 6 Mulholland came into the game when mass chaos and ugly play had already taken over. He didn't seem to play much better than anyone else, but didn't look too bad either.

Olmes Garcia - 5.5 Garcia got behind the defense a few times and was either left by himself with no one to give the ball to or he lost it with a heavy touch. Hopefully over the course of a couple games he can knock the rust off as it looks like he will see more minutes with the injuries of Findly, Sandoval, and now Plata.
