Off the Crossbar, Episode Four: Breaking down LA and previewing Toronto

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Off the Crossbar is back with a fourth episode, in which we talk about our draw against LA Galaxy and our upcoming match against Toronto FC.

Introduction

We let Trevor pick the music, and unsurprisingly, you prog rock fans are rejoicing at the presence of a little Canadian band: Rush.

Match recap

We ask ourselves what exactly we could've changed about Saturday's 1-1 draw against Los Angeles Galaxy. What would things have been like with Joao Plata in the match for more than 30 minutes? How can we integrate Olmes Garcia into the mix? What did Alvaro Saborio do that was so bad that Ryan Nelsen and Bruce Arena were both chastising him? As you can tell, there are lots of questions.

Match preview

We take a look ahead to Toronto FC, who will be bringing Michael Bradley, Jermain Defoe, Gilberto, and Julio Cesar to town. Oh, and there will be seven other players starting, one of whom is definitely not Jackson. (Oooh, suspensions. Drama. All of the above.)

International duty

Will Luis Gil make the U.S. squad for the World Cup? Is Kyle Beckerman really better than Michael Bradley? Is Nick Rimando really fantastic? These are questions. We ask two of the three.

Listener questions

If you sent in a question, we either answered it or considered answering it and thought better of it. Either way, we ended up talking about something you didn't ask us, so does it really matter?
