Schuler out, Maund in for RSL after knock against Chicago Fire

Andrew Fielding-USA TODAY Sports

Chris Schuler misses out today through injury against Houston Dynamo, with Aaron Maund taking his place at the center of the defense.

Schuler was reportedly experiencing soreness after the 3-2 win over Chicago Fire and underwent a precautionary MRI. He didn't make the trip to Houston, but according to the club, he trained Friday — certainly something which eases any worries about his long-term fitness.

Aaron Maund played in RSL's first two matches of the season and looked good before coming with an injury against San Jose Earthquakes in a 3-3 draw.

Cole Grossman and Luis Gil both made the bench after missing out for several weeks through injury, so the news is not all negative.

Carlos Salcedo is the central defender on the bench, with Kwame Watson-Siriboe on loan (certainly short-term) at southern California PDL club Orange County Blues as he recovers from a long-term injury. He recently played 45 minutes with the reserves.
