2014 World Cup open thread: Groups start to take shape

We're really enjoying this World Cup, even if the draws have started to enter consideration late here. Can this level of awesomeness be sustained through the Cup?

The games

All times Mountain Daylight Time

10 a.m., Australia v. Netherlands

I predict there will be goals in this one. Which isn't fair, because I'm publishing this right around the end of the first half. How about those Socceroos?

1 p.m., Spain v. Chile

Spain simply must improve if they're to be successful at all this World Cup. That showing against the Netherlands was woeful. Can they pick it up against Chile?

4 p.m., Cameroon v. Croatia

Both Brazil and Mexico will be watching this one with bated breath, hoping perhaps for another draw in group A.

What we saw yesterday

Belgium defeated Algeria with a two-goal comeback — after taking the vast majority of shots
Mexico (chiefly Guillermo Ochoa) held a creative, attacking Brazil to a goalless draw
Russia and Korea traded goalkeeping errors in a 1-1 draw

Coming up tomorrow

10 a.m., Colombia v. Ivory Coast; 1 p.m., Uruguay v. England; 4 p.m., Japan v. Greece
