Player Ratings: RSL vs. L.A. Galaxy

In a game where RSL couldn't finish their chances and calls did not go their way, individual performances were up and down.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimando - 7 It's an odd game when Rimando commits a penalty but ends up saving it. The upside is It's looking like his record-tying game will likely come at Rio Tinto.

Tony Beltran - 7 Beltran created a great chance for Joao Plata that Pinedo was able to save. He was pushing and defending well as per usual.

Chris Schuler - 6.5 Schuler had a pretty good night, but we are used to excellent nights from him now. The Galaxy could have scored a couple more than they did unfortunately.

Nat Borchers - 6 Not the best night ever from Nat, but by no means the worst. He has not been doing very well with his set piece opportunities this season and it was too bad he could not turn that around against the Galaxy.

Chris Wingert - 6.5 Wingert inexplicably lost the ball a few times but was positionally very sound against the best player to ever play in MLS.

Kyle Beckerman - 6.5 Beckerman had a few chances from the top of the 18 but could not keep a couple of them on frame much to the dismay of RSL fans. He did well defensively and helped RSL win the possession battle away from home.

John Stertzer - 6 Stertzer is building off of the momentum he has gained having gotten more and more minutes on in MLS play. He got into the attack a lot but could not keep the ball on frame.

Luis Gil - 5 Gil had a couple of spurts of innovative play but when things did not go according to plan, his body language was very negative.

Javier Morales - 5.5 Morales did as well as he could to create chances and took some hits along the way. He uncharacteristically did not do as well with some of his free kicks as we are accustomed to seeing.

Devon Sandoval - 4.5 Nothing much out of Sandoval to talk positively about. Somehow, someway he needs to find a way to get involved and put a goal in.

Joao Plata - 7 Plata had some good scoring chances but Pinedo made some great saves. Joao was really the only consistent scoring threat for RSL on the night throughout the game.

SUBSTITUTES

Ned Grabavoy - 6 Grabavoy brought some veteran leadership and grit to the second half which gave RSL a real chance at leveling but then missed his one-on-one chance to make that happen himself. He likely rued that chance more than the fans.

Luke Mulholland - 5 Nothing notable from Mulholland. He was unable to assert himself after he came on late in the game.

Olmes Garcia - 6.5 A nice setup for Grabavoy that left us with our heads in our hands. He also got fiery with Pinedo which was good to see. He should show that feistiness a bit more often.
