Player ratings for Real Salt Lake vs. Tijuana: Gil, Glad impress in 1-1 draw

Gil and Glad impress in friendly versus the Xolos.

Chris Nicoll-USA TODAY Sports

Jeff Attinella - 5.5 it's not that Attinella had a bad game, it was simply uneventful for him.

Tony Beltran - 6.5 Beltran assumed a leadership role in the first half and did well to help keep Tijuana from having too many chances.

Aaron Maund - 6.5 This was one of Maund's more confident, complete showings of the year. He was in the right spots on both sides of the ball and won the ball for RSL on a few occasions.

Justen Glad - 8 Wow, did Glad impress. This kid has some real promise if we can base much on his first appearance with the RSL first team. He singlehandedly stipped some chances for Tijuana and never looked outmatched. An esciting prospect to be sure.

Chris Wingert - 6 Wingert did well as the captain in the first half and led the team, especially defensively. It was a good 45 minite showing.

John Stertzer - 6.5 Stertzer put a lot on the line and was committed throughout the game to breaking up the Xolos' attack.

Sebastian Velasquez - 7 Velasquez is rounding the corner and coming into form again. He was creative and at times was the engine of the offense. He lost the ball a few times in bad spots which seems to be his biggest weakness of late.

Luke Mulholland - 6.5 Mulholland brought quality to the field and helped RSL control possession in the first half. After he took a hard tackle, he understandably lost a step.

Luis Gil - 8 This was the kind of game we all like to see from Gil. He was unlucky not to have two or three goals. What has become clear to me is that he is much more dangerous when he is at the top of the diamond driving the offense. I could see him taking the reins when Morales steps down.

Robbie Findley - 6 Findley was visibly frustrated at times, but he spread the field as usual and did really well to win the ball and keep possession.

Devon Sandoval - 5.5 Sandoval had a decent first half and held the ball up well. He did not have any true scoring chances to no real fault of his own although he could probably be in better spots at times.

Substitutes

Lalo Fernandez - 6.5 Lalo made some great saves and looked good in the 45 minutes he played. He showed that he is more than capable of seeing some more time on the field.

Abdoulie Mansally - 5 Not the best game from Mansally. He had some questionable passes and shots, but was better on defense than on offense.

Carlos Salcedo - 6.5 Salcedo did well to prove himself against his compatriots. He was fierce on defense.

Olmes Garcia - 6 Garcia's athleticism wore out the Xolo defenders. He allowed RSL to push forward a bit more as the third forward.

Joao Plata - 6 Plata did not see a ton of minutes, but he looked sharp and helped create scoring chances.

Chris Schuler - 7 Schuler solidified the defense in the last 10 minutes and Tijuana dis not have any chances with him in the game.
