Player Ratings against the Colorado Rapids

RSL put in an incredible team effort against the odds to win back the Rocky Mountain Cup.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimando - 7 Rimando came up with a couple of very nice saves on some tough shots and made himself big with Deshorn Brown at point blank range - a great game to tie the record for most shutouts in MLS.

Tony Beltran - 7 Beltran is Mr. Consistency of late. He earned his paycheck again against the Rapids and put in as much effort as anyone on the field.

Aaron Maund - 4.5 Maund had a decent game except for two glaring errors. The first was letting Deshorn Brown slip away from him off of a corner kick and allowing him a point blank shot (that luckily he botched) and the other was taking a man down from behind with a clear chance at goal which left RSL in a really difficult position for nearly the entire second half.

Nat Borchers - 9 What a performance. Borchers single-handedly thwarted at least four goals to preserve the Real Salt Lake lead. He looked as solid as he ever has and led the team to a nearly impossible win.

Chris Wingert - 8.5 This was probably Wingert's best game of the season. He worked as hard or harder than anyone and that very work ethic was what led to RSL's lone goal. He won the ball twice and then gave Morales the ball on a silver platter.

Kyle Beckerman - 6.5 Beckerman did not have the sort of distribution we are used to, but he put in the work on the defensive end to give RSL three valuable points on the road.

Ned Grabavoy - 7 Grabavoy also had an incredible night working on both sides of the ball. This was the kind of scenario in which you really need Grabavoy on the field.

Luis Gil - 6.5 Gil was connecting well with Morales in the first half and was able to show off his creativity at times. All that came to an end when RSL went down to 10 men. Too bad as he was on his way to having a great 90 minutes offensively.

Javier Morales - 7.5 Morales was smooth in his finish and calm in the box when Wingert set him up early in the first half. He gave RSL the lead that lasted the rest of the game but did not have much time or space to create thereafter.

Devon Sandoval - 7 Sandoval complied with his job description of being a hold up forward. He battled for as long as he was in the game and did really well in holding up the ball.

Robbie Findley - 7 Findley really should have had a goal early in the game but Clint Irwin came up with a huge save. Findley is the RSL forward you want in the game when they are down to 10 men for an extended period of time. He showed his experience making wise decisions with the ball to keep the lead and wore the clock down when he could.

Substitutes

Carlos Salcedo - 7 You have to give a lot of credit to Salcedo who has not seen much time this year but came on unexpectedly when Maund saw a red card and played very well to give the win to Salt Lake even when being a man down.

Cole Grossman - 6 Grossman put in a nice 20 minutes when there was a lot of pressure to thwart off the Colorado attack. He came on and played calm and collected.

John Stertzer - N/A
