Real Salt Lake had a very competitive first half with as many scoring chances as they probably had over the course of their past few visits to Seattle. The Sounders had some good looks as well but Rimando came up big a couple times. Soon thereafter, Schuler found Mulholland wide and Mulhollland connected with Morales who had a fantastic nutmeg goal to the far post. It did not take Seattle long to respond with a goal by Neagle and another by Martins to take a lead into the half.
it did not take lomg for Plata to do what he has done all season and put in a deflecting equalizer goal. It was a close affair until the 68th minute when Martins had a clear chance to score and Borchers commited a foul in recovery and which was a red card worthy play in the eyes of the ref. RSL was down to 10 men. They still had a couple chances to score but defense was clearly the priority with Cassar bringing on both Salcedo and Grossman. In the closing minutes of the game Rose got on the end of the ball and scored in a quick, sequence and Seattle won the match.
