In a surprising move, Nick Rimando, Tony Beltran, Chris Schuler and Ned Grabavoy are all not starting against Vancouver Whitecaps today in a match that, with a win or a draw, would see RSL clinch a playoff spot.
Beltran was nursing a back injury sustained in training this week, which presumably answers for his absence. Schuler was substituted at halftime against Colorado Rapids and apparently had a problem with a quad (or some other part of his leg.) Schuler has been rested other times this season, so precaution isn't unprecedented.
Grabavoy and Rimando are presumably both absent to get a bit of rest.
Jeff Attinella starts in Rimando's place; he hasn't played since 1-0 loss to Chivas that capped the end of the World Cup break for Rimando.
Chris Wingert switches to the right side to fill in for Beltran, and Abdoulie Mansally returns to the left back spot he's flitted in and out of this season.
Grabavoy is on the bench, but Luis Gil takes his place in the starting XI.
Robbie Findley has been left in Salt Lake City, with Sebastian Jaime and the newly returned-from-loan Devon Sandoval on the bench.
Encouragingly, though, Alvaro Saborio returns to the starting lineup for the first time since May 11 in a 5-2 win over Houston Dynamo.
