Real Salt Lake top Sacramento 2-0 in late-season exhibition

RSL topped Sacramento Republic FC with goals from Robbie Findley and Sebastian Velasquez.

Real Salt Lake put out a lineup consisting largely of those that could use some extra minutes to gain form before the playoff run. The diamond was disbanded with three forwards and three midfielders.

RSL had some good looks at the goal with prolonged spells of possession and sometimes chaotic sequences up front but were unable to convert. Sacramento Republic FC had the best chance of the first half off of a set piece and were unlucky not to score with a nice look right in front of the goal but it went just high.

Salt Lake had a nice start to the second half with smarter decisions going forward. A counter around the 59th minute gave way to a nice pass from Sebastian Jaime to Robbie Findley and what was a great look at goal turned into a tackle in the box and a subsequent penalty kick which Findley took and made.

RSL had some shaky moments in the back but ultimately held their ground. To cap the game off, Sebastian Velasquez split some defenders and had a beautiful goal in the top left corner. And with that, RSL won the game 2-0.
