Elias Vasquez, a 22-year-old Guatemalan defender, is set to join Real Salt Lake, according to a report from Steven Goff, a very reliable Washington Post reporter.
Real Salt Lake close to signing Guatemalan center back Elias Vasquez (Comunicaciones, Dorados). Age: 22. Caps: 25. #rsl #mls

Vasquez, a full international with 25 caps, would join from Mexican second division side Dorados De Sinaloa. He joined Dorados from Comunicaciones in June. He previously underwent a trial at Chicago Fire but was unable to participate in a reserves match for the club after a match postponement. He also previously captained Guatemala's under-20 side.
Vasquez, a center back, would bolster a growingly deep back line for Real Salt Lake, with Aaron Maund signing a new contract and Phanuel Kavita joining on a homegrown deal.
He's already followed Jeff Cassar and Real Salt Lake on Twitter, which would seem to lend a bit of social media truth to this one.
More on this as it becomes available, which will almost certainly come after today's SuperDraft.
