Nick Rimando and Justen Glad both had successful meniscus surgeries this offseason, Real Salt Lake announced today.
Rimando, who has been on a demanding schedule of matches international and domestic for several years now, had knee-related concerns through 2015, missing the final game of the season with a knee issue.
It's difficult to know exactly when that started or when the issue required surgery, but as early as mid-April, Rimando was reported to be battling knee soreness. That came after a national team match against Mexico on April 15. When those issues came to a head and required surgery is a bit of an unknown, however.
In a press release, RSL general manager Craig Waibel said he anticipates both will be healed in time for the pre-season campaign, which is anticipated to start in January.
"It's great that Nick and Justen were able to have these surgeries early in the off-season and they will be fully recovered in time for preseason," Waibel said. "We look forward to their contributions next season."
